Teacher workshop for implementing school-based General Studies and Money Management curriculum
Money Management is an important topic in the revised General Studies curriculum. The Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC) will organise a teacher workshop with Centre for University & School Partnership (Faculty of Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong) (CUHK). It aims to introduce the importance of Financial Education and related teaching resources.
In the seminar, IFEC will introduce the General Studies Financial education related teaching resources. We have invited CUHK School Development Officer and Principals and Teachers from Tai Po Old Market Public School (Plover Cove), CC Chuen Yuen Second Primary School and Tung Chung Catholic School to share their school-based experience. The "General Studies and Money Management" teaching package will be introduced in the workshop. The objective of the package is to help students build positive values, learn how to be a smart consumer, reflect on consumerism and acquire some good financial management skills.
The teaching package is based on the General Studies for Primary Schools Curriculum Guide (2017). It can also be matched with Personal Growth Education, Moral and Civic Education, Mathematics and Information Technology for cross-curricular teaching. The package provides worksheets, presentation slides, animations, lesson plans and E-Books which facilitate the teaching and reduces workload in lesson preparation.
