Digital Stock Trading Guru Inter-School Competition 2024-2025
Organised by IFEC, and co-organised by the Education Bureau and Hong Kong Association for Business Education, the Digital Stock Trading Guru Inter-School Competition 2024-2025 (Competition) will be held in the first quarter of 2025.
Objective
Digital Stock Trading Guru (DSTG) is a digital learning tool specifically designed for Secondary 4 to Secondary 6 students who are studying the subject “Business, Accounting and Financial Studies” (BAFS). The Competition aims to help secondary school students make informed investment and financial decisions through contest mode, and assist them to develop a correct attitude and habit towards investment and financial management.

Secondary 4 to Secondary 6 BAFS students
Eligibility
- All secondary schools in Hong Kong are eligible to participate in the Competition free of charge.
- Each secondary school shall form a team of four BAFS students to participate.
- Each school is allowed to have only one team to participate in the Competition.
Format
- The Competition has two rounds: Qualifying Round and Final Contest. All eligible schools can participate in the Qualifying Round.
- The Qualifying Round will be conducted in teams, with four students from each school team required to attend. The individual portfolio values of each participating student will be combined to determine the overall portfolio value for their school and the team ranking. Depending on the number of teams participating in each Qualifying Round, a total of 40 teams will be selected to advance to the Final Contest based on proportion and ranking.
- The Final Contest will also be conducted in teams, with four students from each school team required to attend. Schools will be ranked for School Awards based on their overall portfolio value, while students will compete for Individual Awards based on their individual portfolio values.
Points to note
- All participating students are required to bring their own device for the Competition. They can use either the Wi-Fi connection provided by the venue or their own data connection for the Competition.
- No briefing or instructions on the DSTG will be provided during the Qualifying Rounds and the Final Contest. It is expected that the participating teams have familiarised themselves with the DSTG before joining the Competition.
- The Competition will be conducted in Cantonese.
- By participating in the Competition, schools and students should agree to be photographed and videotaped at the venue. They should also acknowledge and agree that their photos and videos may be used for future publicity and promotion by the organisers.

Certificate of Participation
All students who participate in the Competition will receive an electronic certificate of participation.
Briefing Session and Teacher Training
- An online briefing session cum teacher workshop on the use of DSTG as a teaching tool was held from 2:30pm to 4:30pm on 21 October 2024 (Monday). Teachers who are interested in the DSTG and the Competition can register for the online workshop through EDB’s Training Calendar System on or before 10 October 2024 (Thursday).
- Details for the online briefing session cum teacher workshop will be provided to the participating teachers by email.
Application
- Schools can apply to join the Competition from 28 October 2024 (Monday) to 15 November 2024 (Friday).
- Each school can only submit one application.
- The allocation for the Qualifying Round will be based on the school’s preference in the application form. If a Qualifying Round is oversubscribed, schools will be chosen through a drawing-lot basis. Some schools may be assigned to a different date for the Qualifying Round.
- All applicants will receive a confirmation email and will be notified of the Qualifying Round arrangement by 6 December 2024 (Friday).
