Teacher workshop for implementing school-based General Studies and Money Management curriculum
Money Management is an important topic in the revised General Studies curriculum. The Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC) will organise a teacher workshop. It aims to introduce some teaching strategies that can help teachers teach money management concepts. We have invited Tai Po Old Market Public School (Plover Cove) Principal Mr. Tsui Chun Cheung and Mr. Tseung Shui Lun (Panel head of General Studies) to share their school-based financial education and general studies experience. Also, Mr. Yiu Tai Wai from SKH Yuen Chen Maun Chen Primary School will share how money management can be taught within Personal Growth Education.
The "General Studies and Money Management" teaching package will be introduced in the workshop. The objective of the package is to help students build positive values, learn how to be a smart consumer, reflect on consumerism and acquire some good financial management skills.
The teaching package is based on the General Studies for Primary Schools Curriculum Guide (2017). It can also be matched with Personal Growth Education, Moral and Civic Education, Mathematics and Information Technology for cross-curricular teaching. The package provides worksheets, presentation slides, animations, lesson plans and E-Books which facilitate the teaching and reduces workload in lesson preparation.
