IFEC welcomes re-appointment of Chairman

The Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC) is pleased to announce the re-appointment of Mr Victor Dawes, SC, BBS, Non-Executive Director of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), as Chairman of the IFEC for a term of two years, with effect from 1 August 2024.

The re-appointment was made by the SFC, of which the IFEC is a subsidiary of.

Mr Dawes said, “I am honoured to be re-appointed as Chairman of the IFEC, an organisation with a very meaningful purpose of promoting investor and financial education through its education and advocacy work in Hong Kong. Over the years, the IFEC has established innovative education campaigns and programmes to promote investor and financial education in Hong Kong, with the aim to further enhance the financial literacy level of the Hong Kong public. I would like to thank the IFEC Board, all our stakeholders and the IFEC team for their support and relentless efforts. I look forward to continuing the journey together to help improve the financial well-being of people in Hong Kong.”

IFEC General Manager, Ms Dora Li said, “The IFEC team is delighted to continue to benefit from Mr Dawes’s leadership as we continue to strive for excellence to further enhance investor and financial education in Hong Kong. Under his leadership over the past two years, the IFEC has been making significant progress in its mission to equip people in Hong Kong with the knowledge, attitude and skills necessary for making informed investment and financial decisions. We look forward to continuing this meaningful journey together with Mr Dawes’s valuable guidance and support.”

Mr Dawes is a Senior Counsel practicing from Temple Chambers in Hong Kong.
