Programme details

The Financially Literate Schools Programme, co-organised by the IFEC and the Centre for University & School Partnership of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) , aims to foster financial literacy in primary school students. The programme applies the model of ‘learn it, live it, teach it and embed it’ and integrate five virtues into financial education: Prudence, Temperance, Honesty, Diligence, and Responsibility.

The programme adopts a whole-school approach to deliver financial education to primary school students through subject lessons and non-subject curriculum activities. CUHK provides school-based support to participating schools, collaborates with teachers to develop lesson plans and offers guidance throughout the programme. CUHK also conducts workshops to teachers, social workers and parents, assisting them in integrating financial concepts into everyday life and teaching practices.

The programme website, available in Chinese, features Teacher’s Corner where lesson plans from participating schools are consolidated and serves as a reference for other primary schools. To foster collaboration between parents and teachers in promoting financial and value education, the website also provides financial management tips and a self-learning platform for parents and students.
